| Copley Hospital The Stowe Wine & Food Classic supports the charity care program of North Central Vermont’s leading health care provider, Copley Hospital. Through the energy of Dr. George L. Bates and the philanthropic support of Alexander Hamilton Copley, the idea of a community health center introduced in 1908 became a reality in 1932, as Copley Hospital first opened its doors. For more than 72 years, Copley has been serving the needs of the community. Over time it has grown as the community has grown and changed to meet the evolving needs of those it serves. Copley is a non-profit provider of healthcare in both Lamoille County and the towns that surround it in a rural, mountain region of Vermont. It is a community-governed hospital, serving approximately 60,000 patient visits each year.
